Materials, making & care

Good ceramics reward a closer look.

A cup is a shape, a surface and something you hold every day. These are the details to consider when choosing a piece or planning an order.

The form

Look at the rim, handle, base and capacity together. For café service, ask about dimensions, saucer pairing and whether the specific form stacks.

The surface

Glazes can differ in colour, texture and sheen. Reactive and hand-finished work may vary within a batch; agree the acceptable range with a physical sample when consistency matters.

The making

RiKU works with ceramic workshops and manufacturing partners. Production may take place in different regions. An origin stated for a particular product applies to that product; the dispatch location is a separate detail.

The decoration

Laser engraving is applied after firing. Fired decoration uses a different process. The suitable method and placement depend on the material, glaze and design.

The care

Follow the instructions for the specific piece and decoration. Do not assume that one product’s dishwasher or microwave suitability applies to the rest of the range. Keep metallic decoration out of microwaves.

The batch

For a business order, confirm the specification, sample requirements, inspection arrangements and any available product-specific test documentation before approving production.
